In another day or two, the last pile of snow in our backyard – that one spot that never sees direct sunlight – will be gone. I left the house this morning to run an errand without wearing winter gloves – and I didn’t even get frostbite! Before long, the snow boots will migrate back into the basement, and the snow shovels to the back of the shed.
The grass is still brown and dormant, but wild lilacs are popping up on the south-facing lawn. Our dog Tito, who loved playing in the deep snow while we grudgingly trudged after him, doesn’t seem to miss it a bit. Smart dog.
